....following the path of SOUL music

With the popularity of the expression "SOUL music" nowadays....I felt the need to go back to the roots and origins of it.It seems that many times, what we're calling SOUL music today is very far from what Soul music was then. Soul music became popular with the merging of gospel traditional music and Rhythm and Blues.Ray Charles being one of the pioneers, as well as Sam Cooke and Bobby Bland in the early 50s, this genre never stopped from evolving as it was influenced by other elements exported from Rock and Roll music .Soul of the 60s was heavily influenced by artists like Aretha Franklyn, James Brown,Otis Redding, Sly and the Family Stone.... and many more. Soul music of the 70s saw the rising of Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson etc...Well, as it is a very short summary of course, the list of mentioned artists is also very short. Feel free to share the other artists quoted or not in the review and lets all have fun!!! See ya at the next post.
